Shrabonti Saha

— Mobaidul Sagor

Floating away on the water hyacinths of Ichhamati — floating far, far away,
The venom of the Russell's viper thickens within me like the evening sky.
Like a lost honeybee adrift on mobile waves, I wander —
I am searching for you, Shrabonti Saha, only you I seek.

Even after crossing millions and millions of light-years, I haven’t given up,
Your fair, glowing face remains sown deep into the soil of my heart —
Like tender paddy seedlings — though I drift, I have never forgotten,
Tell me, Shrabonti Saha, how could I ever forget you?

As if crossing the sandbars toward Angrail,
I saw you standing there, draped in a white saree with a red border,
Conch bangles on your wrists, vermilion deep in the parting of your loose hair,
You tricked me, Shrabonti Saha, you tricked me once again.
