Just Once, Touch Me
— Mobaidul Sagor
Am I to you like the Roma or the Traveller, out of place, unknown?
Just once, touch me—reach beyond what you’ve ever been shown.
Like you touch a rose that greets the dawn in bloom,
Or the wings of an uninvited butterfly that dances in your room.
Touch me once—let it be a sweet mistake you make,
Like you once mistook him for real—for your own heart’s sake.
You wove dreams with him, hand in hand, hearts spun tight,
Painted your cheeks with false love’s hue, glowing bright.
Just once, touch me—won’t you try and see?
I’ll wash your grief away, though it may cost all of me.
Just as you wiped your past lover from your heart away,
Tell me—what great loss if you touch me today?
