The Revenant
—Mobaidul Sagor
I'm the revenant riding Gilgamesh's boat.
I've been walking through—
The heart of the world for four thousand years.
I've seen from the first to the present civilization.
You must know of Cleopatra and Helen,
And also Grace Kelly and Monica Bellucci.
But do you know about that girl I saw in Uruk?
That day was Monday,
I was fishing on the banks of the Euphrates.
Suddenly, I heard a laugh out loud.
A group of girls were passing by me.
I saw a brown shawl covering a white hand.
But couldn't see the face.
Then the catastrophic Tuesday came.
King Gilgamesh declared,
"The world will end in the next few moments"
His Majesty built a boat to save us.
The King ordered to his subjects
To board the boat as soon as possible.
That girl was not akin to us.
Her cohort refused his Majesty's order.
I noticed that the girl was a worshiper of Innana.
I Immediately sat down to pray to the Goddess.
My supplication to the goddess,
"Goddess of love, please save her."
The goddess appeared before me
With her lion and owls.
"She will be yours, but not today.
You'll have to wait for that day."
The goddess said to me
And then instantly disappeared.
The great flood had subsided.
King Gilgamesh was dead.
Mankind has invented engines, satellites and rockets.
But I'm still looking for her.
